Step 1 · Find the value

Business processes

Mapping and understanding your processes so the strategy hits the mark. You cannot redesign work you cannot see.

Duration

2-6 weeks

Pricing model

Add-on or standalone

You end up with

A shared process map, a catalogue of challenges and a long list of opportunities with benefits.

For you if you

Have no process maps, or they are outdated. Have several brands or companies working differently after acquisitions. Face an ERP or platform change. Or have many AI pilots, but the workflows are the same.

Price and payment

As part of the strategy (+2-3 weeks), standalone before the strategy (4-6 weeks) or for one value stream (2 weeks).

What it includes

01Stakeholder map and scope
02Value chain with support functions
03Process map in three levels (L0-L2)
04Catalogue of challenges per process, with source and theme
05Themes, opportunity matrix and opportunity map
06Validated long list of opportunities for the portfolio

What you get out of it

01

A shared language

Leadership, business and IT talk about the same processes with the same names.

02

The right places

We see where time, errors and money are lost, and where data and AI make a difference.

03

Touchpoints

Every change can be traced to the processes, roles and systems it touches.

04

A baseline

Time, errors and manual steps today, so the benefit can be proven afterwards.

The process map in three levels

L0 gives leadership the overview, L2 gives the detail for change. The notation follows the purpose: simple boxes for leadership, BPMN for redesign and ArchiMate when processes are linked to applications and data.

L0 Main areasE.g. sales and marketing, operations, finance and risk, support
L1 ProcessesE.g. lead to agreement, order to cash, procure to pay, record to report
L2 Sub-processesE.g. quotes, credit assessment, invoicing, goods receipt, month-end close

Six steps from value chain to opportunities

Typically 20-40 sessions with business and IT, depending on the size of the company. A short summary after each session, which participants correct and approve.

Step 22. The value chainHow the company creates value end to endValue chain with support functions
Step 33. Process mapFrom main areas to processes and sub-processesProcess map L0-L2
Step 44. ChallengesObservations per process from interviews, workshops and dataCatalogue of challenges
Step 55. Themes and opportunitiesChallenges are grouped into themes and become opportunitiesOpportunity matrix and opportunity map

How we can work together

Add-on

As part of the strategy

+2-3 weeks in the Understand phase

Interviews cover both strategy and processes. Process map and challenges are part of the deliverable.

Outcome: The strategy is built on known processes

Standalone

Before the strategy

4-6 weeks

For acquisitions, ERP changes or new leaders. The entire value chain is mapped.

Outcome: A shared picture to build the strategy on

Door opener

One value stream

2 weeks

E.g. quote to order or claims. Process map, challenges and opportunities.

Outcome: A quick proof of the value
